Transportation to UCSD

Airport Connections

Lindbergh Field is San Diego's primary airport. UCSD can be reached from Lindbergh Field by taxi, San Diego City Transit, or Airport Shuttle.

San Diego City Transit

If traveling by San Diego City Transit from the airport take bus route #992. Ask to purchase a one day bus pass ($5.00) as there are no longer free transfers. Route #992 travels from the airport and proceeds to downtown San Diego, where you can transfer on Broadway, to one of two routes connecting with UCSD: #30 (runs everyday) or #150 (Mon-Fri only).

Local/urban bus route fare is $2.25.  Express route fare (for #50 and #150) is $2.50.  A 1 day bus pass ($5.00) will allow you to ride all buses, all day. Exact change is required. All bus schedules are listed on the Metropolitan Transit Services website: transit.511sd.com. Automated schedule information is available at 1-800-COMMUTE.

Airport Shuttle Service*

There are also several airport-to-door shuttle services with average cost of $20.00 per person one-way (prices subject to change).

Taxis

Taxis are available curbside at the airport, AMTRAK or Greyhound station. Since approximate cost varies from location, you should budget at least $40.00 if you take a taxi.

Greyhound

Information, fares, and time schedules may be obtained by calling 1-800-231-2222 or on their website: www.greyhound.com.

Amtrak

Amtrak travels from Los Angeles with a stop in Solana Beach ($27.00, subject to change). This is the closest stop to UCSD and requires a transfer to North County Transit bus #101 ($2.00). Check the bus schedule for the Lomas Santa Fe and Highway 101 stop, which is a half-block walk from the station. Call 1-800-USA-RAIL to make your reservations for Amtrak or visit their website: www.amtrak.com.

UCSD is located adjacent to Interstate-5. La Jolla Village Drive, Gilman Drive, or Genesee Avenue exits can be used to reach campus. Parking permits are required on campus Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Weekends are free. Daily parking permits are $7.00; metered parking is also available. Quarterly, monthly, and occasional use parking permits are available to graduate students at varying costs.  You can find out additional parking details here: parking.ucsd.edu.
