American Heart Association (AHA) Pre-doctoral Fellowship Application Instructions

American Heart Association (AHA) Pre-doctoral Fellowships

The American Heart Association (AHA) offers Pre-doctoral Fellowships that award a $22,000/year stipend for up to two years.

Please note that the Office of Graduate Studies must submit this application on your behalf.  Consequently, we have internal deadlines for submission:
  • Applications for the July deadline must be submitted to OGS 14 calendar days before the agency deadline.
  • Applications for the January deadline must be submitted to OGS before the holiday closure.  Check the graduate funding blog for specific submission deadlines.

How to Submit Your Application to OGS

Begin by logging in to Grants@Heart to start your application.  When listing the institutional personnel, select Dean Kim Barrett as the grants officer and Mark Cooper as the fiscal officer.

Once you have uploaded all components of the application, submit the application to the grants officer (GO).  This will give OGS access to view your application.

When you grant access to Dean Barrett, please also send an email to Zoe Ziliak Michel alerting her to look for your application.

(Once you submit the application to the grants officer, OGS can release the application back to you so that the application can be revised before the deadline.)

As of the internal deadline, all components of the application prepared by the student must be present.  However, letters of reference may be uploaded after the internal deadline.
